Dear Swim Families,
We have another big Swim meet right around the corner! I am looking forward to another great weekend
in the concessions room!
Our last big home meet this swim season is coming up on
Saturday February 14 and Sunday, February 15, 2009. As we've done with
past meets we are asking parents to help by donating food for our concessions
stand. The proceeds from concessions is a large part of the club revenue and
helps pay our great coaches and keep dues for members down. Thank you for your support.
Please check the shopping list that will be sent out next
week and bring the item you've been assigned. We ask that you spend
between $10-$15 for your item(s). If what we've assigned goes over $15
then just purchase enough to stay within the limit. As we depend on the
donations to make the fundraising successful, we ask that all club members
donate food items, even if they are not swimming at the meet.
We always have to shop at Sam’s club before the meet to
purchase items that are not donated. We also make another run on Saturday
night to buy additional food that we run out of for the meet on Sunday.
If you would like to donate an additional $5.00 to help with these costs we
would appreciate it greatly. The checks can be made out to Hopkins Hurricanes.
Another great way to help out the team (in addition to
donating the food items on the chart) is to bake a treat. We are looking for
these baked goods:
Rice Krispie treats,
Puppy Chow
Special K Bars
Please cut the Rice Krispie treats and Special K bars into 3
inch square sizes and wrap in plastic wrap. If you make puppy chow we
have found that the small snack size bags work well for this. As many
bags as you are willing to make would be greatly appreciated as this is a
HUGE seller and the swimmers and kids LOVE this stuff. We have attached
the recipes for you for the chili and the puppy chow. Also if you would like to
make chili please let us know. We have attached the recipe for you.
Drop Off:
There are 2 options for dropping off your donations for this
meet:
At North Jr High Pool between 6:00 pm & 7:00pm on
Friday, February 13 OR You may bring it to St. Kate’s by 8:00am on
Saturday February 14. Please be on time
with the drop off at North on Friday, We will be leaving North at
7:00pm to set up concessions at St Kate's.
We will have a sign in sheet at both locations.
Coolers Needed:
We need 8 large coolers for the concessions area. If
you have a large cooler we could use, please bring it to Hopkins North Junior
High by Friday evening (if possible). Please be sure your name is on your
cooler.
One last item: We are in great need for volunteers for
this meet. This is a great opportunity
to meet other swim parents and we really have fun! It is easy to go watch your swimmer in their
event and return to the concessions room. Because we are serving hot
food, it is not possible to have your kids helping in the concessions
area. We do need 3-4 swim team members
(ages 9 and up) to help with running water, sodas and snacks to timers. Email me if your swimmer would like to
help. We also need 4 volunteers per
shift to work concessions. Please volunteer by signing up on our website, www.hopkinshurricanes.com
.
Thanks for your continued support and making the team a great
experience for our kids! Please let me know if you have any questions.
